Last week, my wife and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary. Several years ago, we decided that the best way to celebrate was to choose a piece of art together. A couple of years ago, our friend Vikki offered to paint our portrait. Being fans of her whimsical, glee-filled artwork, we quickly agreed. We expected an 8x10 painting, but were astonished to see the finished 24x30 piece, which now proudly hangs as the focal point of our living room. I jokingly tell visitors that Vikki captured our relationship perfectly, that my words somehow work around Linda and end up in my own ears...
We haven't chosen this year's anniversary artwork yet, but plan to have fun gallery-hopping. After all, the togetherness that the search engenders is the true gift.
