Favorite Bagel

The one thing we miss living in the deep South is decent bagels, but that's another story altogether...

I'm a big fan of rosemary bagels with goat cheese spread liberally on them (cream cheese is unacceptable, see Stephen Jenkins' excellent book, Cheese Primer). Starting my morning with a bagel and big mug of white tea is wonderful way to wake up (along with walking our dog, Lily, and updating my blog).

How do you take your tea or coffee?

I drink tea all day, either iced brown or green tea, or hot green or white tea (based on the season). I never use sugar, but occasionally wring a slice of lime or lemon into the cup.

The only time I drink coffee is when I'm working really late on a project or pairing it with a sweet dessert. Coffee for me is a black house drip or double espresso, simpe and unadorned.

The iPod Shuffle

What's your musical horoscope? (Put your music player on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that come up.) Inspired by Stephanie.

I rarely listen to my iPod on shuffle. Usually, I queue up several albums and just let them play, or create a specific playlist of songs I'd like to hear right now. The exception is when I'm driving a long distance, occasionally I like to break the monotony with the unexpected juxtapositions that a random playlist offers.

After putting my music player on shuffle, here are the first ten songs to play:

What was the last game you played?

Somehow, my wife's new Nintendo DS ended up in my messenger bag this morning (I'm blaming the cats), so I have been playing Brain Age Sudoku off and on all day. I haven't done many Sudoku puzzles in the past, but after a few, I can see the almost-hypnotic appeal that keeps Linda scribbling numerals into boxes.

For me, e-mail is probably the best way to get in touch with me, followed closely by the plethora of instant messenger services I use. E-mail may not be the best way to get a quick response, though, I am criminally negligent in responding to noncritical incoming e-mail. If you need a quick yay or nay, IM me.

What books are on my nightstand?

Wobblies!: A Graphic History of the Industrial Workers of the World

Actually, my wife and I rebuilt the CD case this weekend that I use as a nightstand, and I was able to sort through my huge pile of books sitting by the bed. After I shelved books I had finished, I was left with Bill Buford's Heat, McSweeney's #20, The Devil Is a Gentleman: Exploring America's Religious Fringe, Seth Tobochman's graphic novel, War in the Neighborhood, and Wobblies! A Graphic History of the Industrial Workers of the World.

I usually read several books at the same time, leaving a couple in my messenger bag, one in the living room, a couple by the bed and at least one in the spare bedroom.
